What’s changing?

Between now and September 2021, new regulation is being introduced to improve online payment security and help reduce fraud and scams. In a nutshell, it means you’ll be asked to confirm it’s really you more often.

This could be when you're:

  • shopping online
  • using Online banking
  • making contactless payments

We’re making online shopping even more secure

When you shop online, we’ll ask you to confirm your identity and approve transactions more often. You can do this in your NatWest mobile banking app by using your Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode to confirm #ItsReallyMe.

The best way to protect your account

Using your Face ID or fingerprint is the most secure way to confirm #ItsReallyMe when you need to review a transaction.

How does it work?

It’s simple. If we spot an unusual transaction, we’ll ask you to open your app and confirm your identity with your Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode. Then you’ll be able to see the details of the transaction and approve or decline it.

To see a step-by-step demonstration of exactly how it works, watch our how-to video.

Make it easier by turning on app notifications

With your notifications enabled, we can let you know straight away if you need to review a transaction. Then you can simply tap the notification to go straight to your app.

If you want to turn on push notifications for your app, just go to your phone’s notifications settings and look for the NatWest app.
